Baby shower...

Melissa and my friend Amanda threw me a baby shower this past Saturday. About 25 of my friends and family came. I wasn't too thrilled about being the center of attention, but I guess it kind of comes with the territory. We did get a lot of great things for the baby, now I'm just a bit overwhelmed on how to organize it all.

Here is the final cake. Melissa had a gut feeling that the cake wouldn't be done correctly so she went to pick it up and found that her gut intuition was correct. So they had to redo it. We were pleased with the final product. The BOG, is the baby's initials: Bryce Owen Guthrie.

Here's the yummy food we had.

And the spotlight is on me...

Below is a picture of some of the gifts we received.

Blankets, towels, and burp cloths.

We got a lot of clothes in various sizes.

I got this picture of Fara with my webcam while I was sitting in the middle of the Bryce's bedroom floor, trying to decide where to put everything. I haven't made much progress yet.

Baby update...

I had a doctor's appointment today. Since last month's visit I’ve gained 2 lbs, so up to 15 lbs total now. After the nurse left the room Nic started telling me I wasn’t eating enough because I only ate 5 chicken fries last night and macaroni & cheese...after I had already eaten 2 or 3 chocolate chip pecan cookies and a glass of milk). I told him I do eat, I just can’t eat much all at once because there is no room! If my weight was an issue the doctor would tell me. He’s just being the protective dad already.
Bryce’s heart rate was 156 bpm, which is what the nurse says it is every time, I wonder if she even counts correctly. He kept kicking the device and you could hear it when he did, it was cute! Dr Loveless measured my uterus and said it was 28 cm. The doctor said that he’s probably not going to be a very big baby, which I'd be perfectly fine with. I've been worried since Nic was 9lb 9oz! Oh, I did get also my flu shot, let’s hope it doesn’t make me sick since I’ve never had one before. I asked about the H1N1 shot, which won't be available until October and they nurse said she's not planning on getting it because there hasn't been enough testing done with it. She wasn't sure if they'd even get it at their office. I had already pretty much decided against it because it was so new, and that just affirmed my decision.
Next appointment is 3 weeks instead of 4, we're in the home stretch!

Bryce's fifth concert....

...and his second time to go to Britney Spears!!! Nic thinks he's going to be traumatized! LOL! I think he'll be a music lover!
Back in March just a couple days after I found out I was pregnant, Melissa, Amanda, and I flew down to Dallas and watched her show. Of course at that time we didn't know she'd end up coming to Tulsa. The downside to that trip was that I lost my wedding ring, after specifically taking steps to ensure that I would not leave it at the hotel by placing it in a pocket in my purse, I still lost it! :(. My purse fell of the hotel bed and apparently my ring fell out then, but I didn't notice. Of course when I called the hotel after noticing it missing at the airport, they could not find it and never have. Right....
I didn't initially purchase tickets for this concert with the presale when Melissa & Heather and Kristi and Melanie did, and they got great seats dead center of the center ring. I wasn't sure I would be up to it being pregnant and all. But back in August I was checking to see how the tickets were selling. Lo and behold there were row A seats available one section from the center. Awesome seats! I sat on it a couple days deciding, and each day they would still be available...so I finally caved and was glad I did. As soon as I bought them, there was one pair next to us that sold quickly and then they kept going.

So the Dallas concert was great and Tulsa was just as great, if not better. The Dallas concert was one of the first in the tour, so there have been some improvements and changes. The most notable change was her outfits were all different. She did change up the playlist a little. Yes, it's common knowledge that she lip sings, but I've accepted that and go mainly for the show and performance, rather than to see her singing abilities. I did think that the voice over recordings sounded closer to a live sound than they did in Dallas. I don't think she had as many circus acts before she came on stage as she did in Dallas, but that's okay, we just need a little bit of that to get the feel of the Circus atmosphere. Many of her stage props were the same. She also looked so much more comfortable on stage in Tulsa compared to the Dallas performance. I was just as pleased the second time around and was very glad we good as great of seats as we did so late.

The songs that she performed to were:
Circus
Piece of Me
Radar
Ooh ooh Baby
Hot as Ice
Boys
If U Seek Amy
You Outta Know (Live)
Me Against the Music
Everytime (Live)
Freak Show
Get Naked
Breathe on Me
Do Something
I'm a Slave 4 U
Toxic
Baby, One More Time
Womanizer
Bits of other songs were play during intermissions and clothing changes.

This should be the last of the concert run...for a while!

Catching up...

So the weeks continue to go by fast even though we have been under a constant cover of clouds and rain. YUCK!!

Last weekend Nic went trout fishing in Arkansas. Previously he's gone to Calico Rock, but this time he when to Gaston's in Lakeview, AR. He said it was cheaper than Calico Rock (didn't have to have a guide), and promised he would take me some time...yea, I've heard that before!

So while he was away, I did some deep cleaning. He's never able to get the floor of his shower completely clean, so with some comet, a scrub brush, elbow grease and a little time, I was able to get it back to it's original white color. I also shampooed half of the carpet in our bedroom. I had noticed the last time I used it the rotating brushes weren't working. So this week since Nic was at home (because of the rain), I had him see if he could get them to work. He took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together...voila, it worked! Now I'm just waiting on the energy and motivation to get the other half of my bedroom carpet cleaned.

Saturday, September 12th I attended my aunt Terri's 50th birthday party. In addition to the guest of honor my mom, Audrey, Melissa, Kell, Grandpapy, Aunt Sarah Dawn, cousins Zoe, Seth, Cristi, Angela, Jake and John were there. It was so great to see them! Since we've grown up, getting together at holidays doesn't happen as often as it used to.

My dad called me Monday evening as I was leaving work and said he was in Miami and would be coming through Tulsa. So Nic, Melissa, Kell and I met up with him at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. It was great to see him! I would have loved to get to see Charlotte, Ashley and Brian too. Since I've been pregnant I haven't been much for road trips so we haven't made it down there to see them. I hope we can make it down there for Christmas, but I'm not sure yet how far we'll venture with the new baby.

Another Labor Day weekend...the end of another summer...

So the unofficial end of summer is here. We've had unseasonably cool temperatures for the last couple of weeks so in a way summer has already started to come to a close.
~
This weekend we had our final lake trip of the year. Normally we would continue to go to the lake until the end of September, but we have something going on every weekend this month, so it's not going to happen this year. As I told Nic Sunday morning, the next time we go to the lake we'll have our baby boy with us.
~
Melissa and Kell came up Friday night. We went to one of the local Mexican restuarants for dinner and on the way he started calling me "Aunt". It was so cute!
~
After a yummy dinner, we returned to camp and roasted marshmallows with intentions of making smores. Only a couple of smores were made, but a lot marshmallows were roasted. Kell didn't realize the purpose of roasting the marshmallows was to eat them. He just liked the roasting part...we think we might have a little pyro on our hands.
~
Here we are helping each other hold the roasting rod. He really wanted to do it all by himself.

Being camera shy...how unusual.

One little monkey jumping on the bed...needless to say, one fell of and bumped his head!
~
It rained early Saturday morning, and at times it sounded like it was raining buckets. Nic got up early to go visit his Grandma Frisbie at the Tahlequah hospital and found that our awning, which was tilted for runoff, was still holding water. He went to lower one side so it would all run off. Instead the awning collapsed and knocked him down in the process. Surprisingly he stayed very calm, so I stayed very calm. With the help of our friend Charlie, Nic was able to remove the awning without causing further damage and hopefully reducing our repair expenses. Best case scenario it will cost us $250 to repair, worst case scenario $1100+ to replace. Thankfully it is the end of the season so we're not going to worry about it until the spring.
So despite the damaged awning, we continued our weekend in good spirits. After Nic returned from visiting his Grandma, we decided we were going to go fishing a little so Kell could use his new fishing pole.

Helping me drive to the boat dock.

Kell trying out his new fishing pole, unfortunately even the perch weren't biting!

After trying our 'luck' at fishing we returned to camp, where Melissa caught the funniest sequence of pictures.

Here he is hamming it up for the camera.

He kept wanting to roast marshmallows, so I told hm that we couldn't because we didn't have a fire. So he grabs the lighter and took it to the fire pit. I told him there's nothing to light, so he proceeded to throw wood in the fire pit. In the end, Nic did start the fire for him.
~
Later that afternoon my friend Amanda and her friend John came up for the evening. We had a mellow evening just sitting around visiting. We were all exhausted, so we turned in pretty early for the night. Unfortunately Nic had to work on Labor Day, so we came back home around noon on Sunday.

I'm popping!

I just realized that I forgot to upload an updated side by side comparison of my weekly baby belly that I did a couple of weeks ago. So instead of posting that one, I went ahead and added the photo I took of my baby belly this morning. I didn't realize how much further my belly is protruding now than it was a couple of weeks ago!
Below is at 8 weeks, 19 weeks, 26 weeks, and 28 weeks. Yea, I know it looks like I wear the same pants ALL the time but actually I have a mixture of about 5 different pairs of gray pants and shorts. However these pictures seem to only catch 2 of those 5!

Our sister-in-law, Wendi, is the Child Birth Education Coordinator for St Francis Hospital (where we'll be delivering), and she suggested that we should attend a couple of classes. So last night Nic and I attended our first of two breast feeding classes.

Nic was absolutely thrilled about it! Yea right! Actually he did very good and didn't complain too much. He is such a great husband...most times ; ). Our teacher was a bit mono-tone and with the class being from 7pm to 9pm, it's hard not to get a little sleepy. Nic came home and said he didn't get much out of it, but I don't think he was really listening. I think he was mostly people watching because he pointed out a Tulsa fireman in our class and some other things about a couple others. For the most part, many of the husbands were there so I didn't feel too bad about dragging him along. However...I'm still worried that he might not go to the second class with me, I think that's where the bulk of the information will be given. We'll see...
