3D/4D Ultrasound

So we went on Monday August 22nd for our 3D/4D ultrasound. My mom and sisters came, along with Kell, Amanda, Nic and his mom Jonna. Our baby boy decided he was going to play bashful with us, so needless to say we didn't get the best shots. At first he covered his face with his hand, then he was laying toward the back and his umbilical cord was in the way.

It was great to see him once again. If it's not obvious I love ultrasounds. Now we just have to wait the remaining months to see him. I can't wait!

Monthly Baby Checkup

Today was my monthly prenatal appointment. So far I have gained 13 lbs. With a one month gain of 5 lbs, this month was by far my most one-month weight gain so far. I had a feeling it would be too. My blood pressure was 108/70 and the baby's heartrate was 154 beats per minute. I finally remembered to ask what my belly measurement today and it ws 26 cm which is right on target since today I'm 26 weeks and 6 days.

On Wednesday I had my glucose tolerance test, and was happy to find out at today's appointment that I passed it with a 109! From what I've read anything under 140 passes. I was a little nervous about passing. I've read that some people were told to fast before and since I was hungry at 3am the morning before the test, there was no way I could do that and not pass out when they drew my blood. So on the way to my appointment I grabbed a Sonic sausage croissant for breakfast, however I did skip the orange juice.

On the blood draw they also check my iron levels, and I was slightly anemic, which the Doctor wasn't too concerned about. I assume it's because they had already told me to start taking an additional iron supplement.

Our next Doctor's appointment is in 4 weeks. Then after that appointment they will be more frequent.

On Monday I have scheduled an elective 3d/4D ultrasound. I'm very excited to see our little guy!

The usual...

Last Saturday (August 15th) we invited my parents and Audrey up for the day, or night if they chose to stay. Melissa and Kell came up with them. We had every intention of renting a boat from one of the marina's, however, at the last minute our friends Jason and Kim insisted that we borrow their pontoon for the day.

We went out on the water around 11:30am or so, it was cloudy and a bit windy, but we didn't mind it kept it from getting too hot. Since it was windy, we found a spot to anchor on the lake between Long Bay and Whitehorn where we would be protected from the wind. We swam a little, and tubed some.

Not too long after we were done tubing we decided we better get some gas. Since Paradise Marina is the only gas station on the lake that had 100% pure gas we headed over there. Of course it rained on us on the way there. By the time we got fuel and were heading back the rain had stopped and it looked like sunny skies were fast approaching.

When we got back around to Long Bay the sun was completely out. We anchored in a shallow area, however it was so windy that even with 3 anchors the boat was still dragging them. Unfortunately my camera battery died and I forgot the cigarette lighter charger in my car, so we didn't get any photos of the nicer part of the day.

We went back to our travel trailer around 5 or so and grilled some steaks, corn and potatoes for dinner. It was a great time. I can't wait until Nic and I have our own boat so we can invite our families up more often and not have to worry about borrowing someone's boat. In the meantime we're very fortunate to have such great friends.

This past weekend we had another great weekend at the lake. After the concert on Friday night, I drove down to the lake, getting there around 12:30am. Nic's brother Brian and niece Abby rode down with Nic on Friday, and they were all sound asleep when I got there.

Saturday morning Melissa and Kell came up and as usual we went out on the boat with Frankie and Bryan. Kell discovered a fishing pole that was just his size. It actually was Nic's nephew John's fishing pole, but since he wasn't there Kell made use of it. At first he was a little crazy with it acting like he was fly fishing, so we held off from putting a hook on it. We did eventually put a hook and a worm on it and let him try his hand at fishing from the dock.

After we loaded up on the boat, we made our way towards Whitehorn, stopping to swim along the way. When we got to Whitehorn we bought a few bags of "fish food" aka dog food, and let the kids feed the large carp.

Some ducks came to get some food as well.

Later that afternoon Brian's wife Wendi and their son John came down and Melissa and Kell went home. After dinner we went back out on the boat and tried some fishing, but with no luck.

Keith Urban and Sugarland ROCKED!

On Friday August 7th I went with Channing, my cousin Evan's wife, to our 3rd Keith Urban concert. This has to be one of the most difficult events for me to get tickets. Even with two different presale codes, I had no luck getting tickets. Needless to say I ended up with tickets in the upper section after getting them during the public sale. We have been spoiled our two previous concerts with awesome floor seats, so I was extremely disappointed. In reality the seats weren't that bad, we were in the 2nd row of the upper section directly to the right of the stage. The rows in that section do not leave much leg room.

I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy Sugarland since I really get annoyed watching them perform on the music award shows, however I'm surprised to admit I really enjoyed them. I also had never noticed how much Jennifer Nettles resembles Kirsten Dunst.

Sugarland performed many favorites including Settlin', All I Wanna Do, Something More, Baby Girl, Want To, Already Gone, Every Day America, and Who Says You Can't Go Home. She was quite entertaining and spoke a lot to the audience. During Everyday America, she mixed in Madonna's Holiday and Nelly's Hot In Here. Listening to her Texas twang sing Hot In Here was very interesting but entertaining. Also in Who Says You Can't Go Home, they were flashing images from around Tulsa including the Giant Driller, Brady Theather, and TU. There were a couple songs I was surprised they didn't perform including Sugarland and my favorite Stay.

The one we were all waiting for ...

Keith Urban started playing right around 9 pm. As usual he was awesome, performing about 20 songs over the course of 2 hours. As usual he had a second smaller stage set up toward the rear of the floor and I was suprised he walked through the crowd to get there. He also returned to the crowd later to play between sections 119 and 120. I thinks it's so awesome he is not afraid to get up close and personal with his fans. As usual he showed off his awesome guitar skills. Several members of his band also showed off their singing abilities, and WOW!! With the exception of one they are all awesome singers. He did bring Sugarland out to perform You're the Reason God made Oklahoma and eventhough they had to have a cheat sheet for the words, they did a good job. I did miss a couple songs he didn't play, especially Blue Jeans.

So this week is flying by, as every week this summer has. Generally I'm sad to see summer ending, and I still will be, however, I'm very much looking forward to November when Bryce will make his debut. I'm sure as soon as summer is over and fall begins, my weeks will start to drag by.

So last Thursday my friend Amanda and I went to the ZZ Top and Aerosmith concert at the BOK Center. Before the concert we met up with a few of her coworkers and had dinner at McNellie's. I had excellent chicken tenders and yummy sweet potato fries. I was pleasantly surprised considering this place is generally recognized as a bar or pub (of course non-smoking.

Since the BOK center has opened I have gone to several concerts there and park in the same parking garage EVERY time. Apparently this concert was close to being sold out, because the parking garage where I always park was busy like I have never seen before and took forever to get into (and out of). After making a pit stop at the bathroom (of course...I'm pregnant), we made it to our seats during ZZ Top's first song. Our seats were directly to the right side of the stage.

 

ZZ Top played a few familiar songs, switching from gold and pink guitars to white fuzzy guitars (during Legs). They were very entertaining to watch with their long thick beards and sparkly sneakers. As hoarse as the lead singer's voice was when he spoke to the audience, I don't know how he managed any vocals to the songs, but he did. The songs they played that I can remember and recognized were: Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man, La Grange, and Legs. I recognized more, but not sure of the titles. They played for about an hour.

 

About midway through ZZ Top's performance, we noticed several people to the right of us had cleared their seats. Here came BOK employees with sprinkle stuff and a broom and dust pan. Apparently a guy puked on the lady right in front of him. I'm so glad I didn't see that nor smell it! Needless to say that guy and whoever he was with didn't return and thelady that was puked on came back wearing a new Aerosmith t-shirt.

It took a little bit to set-up Aerosmith's stage, however because were to the side of the stage we could see the band behind the curtain before everyone else could and Steven Tyler was waving and acting goofy. You could tell he eats this stuff up. They began with Eat the Rich, a song I'm not terribly familiar with, then continued on. The songs that I can remember that were played are:

Joe Perry sang a couple solo songs, and I really wished he hadn't. He didn't sound very good and I feel Aerosmith left out a few really good songs that I would have much rather heard. I couldn't believe they didn't play Janie's Got a Gun, Don't Want to Miss A Thing, Crazy, Angel or Jaded. I almost felt cheated!

Overall I'm very glad I went, despite the inflated tickets prices, it was a show worth seeing. I did not take my camera since it stated NO CAMERAS on the tickets, however I should have as I saw many people taking pictures.

Another lake weekend...

The weekend of July 24th was another lake weekend, unfortunately I forgot to take my camera on the boat.

This weekend Joey, Trisha and Tanner came up on Saturday to spend the day on Saturday. I was so glad they did. After spending last summer with them at the lake nearly every weekend we have really missed them this year. We pretty much did the same thing as last weekend, met up in the cove and tied a few boats up. The guys took turns skiing or trying to ski, and I think just about all of them regretted it later. I would have loved to ski a little, but that is definitely out of the question this year. I’m not a great skier but I can get up and stay up as long as I don’t try anything tricky, like get outside of the wake. Next summer I will work on improving, at least that’s what I tell myself every year.

Also this past weekend I did get to the see the mama deer and two fawns that Nic has been seeing quite frequently. I even got a picture! They were so cute, it reminded me of Bryce’s bedding.

Baby update

I had my monthly prenatal appointment a couple Fridays ago on Friday July 24th. I have gained just under 8 lbs. Since Nic has lost about 25lbs he’s teasing me that I’ll weigh more than him when we get to the end. My blood pressure was 114/70. The doctor measured my belly but I forgot to ask what that measurement was, darn pregnancy brain. They scheduled me for my glucose tolerance test on August 19th, I'm so excited...not! After Nic heard that you have to sit and hour, he said he wasn’t coming with me for it.

I’ve finally finished putting the crib together, after I’ve procrastinated something terrible. I’ve gotten some of the nursery décor in, and we got the bedding in on Friday. We still haven’t bought the mattress yet but will probably do that in the next week or two. The dresser and changing station came in last week and it's in his bedroom waiting to be put together, maybe I’ll get started on that today.

And the summer rolls on...rather quickly.

Since my last post, the summer has continued on. We’ve spent the past couple weekends at the lake…there’s no surprise there. As much as I love the lake, it was very nice staying home this weekend.

The weekend of July 17th we once again were given permission to borrow Nic’s uncle’s pontoon. Our visitors this weekend were Nic’s parents, Olin and Jonna, Melissa and Kell, and Amanda. On Saturday of that weekend we were on the water from around 11am until 5 or 6pm. We had a good time tying up to everyone else in the cove and just visiting and hanging out. I think we had about 7 or 8 boats tied up together.

I do have a funny story to tell from that weekend, however typing the story is so different than just saying it. Melissa and Kell decided to come to the lake last minute so they were completely unprepared and she had no diapers for him. As soon as we got in the water she took his diaper off and just let him wear his swim suit. He swam and had a great time. After a while he was back on the boat and was leaned over. We asked him if he was pooping, and he said yea. So we made a makeshift potty out of one of the small trash cans that were on the boat, placing paper towels in the bottom. He sat down on it and proceeded with business. Then he got up and said “Yay!” which he usually does when he’s successful and done. Well he gets up and Melissa sees there is no poop, then someone points out that it was stuck to his butt! It was so funny, and it will be a great story to share with him when he’s older.
